Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.

Course description
Over ten weeks, we will discuss a series of topics related to art and culture. The course aims to enrich your knowledge of art history, develop your French vocabulary, and boost your confidence when speaking French. Each week we will focus on a specific theme: - Analyse d’oeuvre : la forme [Analysing a work of art: the form] - Analyse d’œuvre : le contenu [Analysing a work of art : the content] - Le beau dans l’art [Beauty in art] - Art et pouvoir [Art and Power] - Sculpture - Le cadre [the frame] - Miroirs et réflexions dans l’art [Mirrors and reflections in art] - Quand l’œuvre choque : les scandales de l’art [Art scandals] - Grands artistes français de la 2nde moitié du 20e siecle [Great French Artists from the 2nd half of the 20th c.] - A définir, selon vos souhaits ! [To be defined, based on your suggestions]
Resources will be made available to you on Canvas one week before the zoom meeting so that you can prepare each session. Language skills: This is not a language course. To follow this course, it is desirable to have a good level in French, especially in understanding spoken French. Developing skills in speaking French are OK. If and when necessary, English can be used a back-up. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
